| It has been my pleasure to work with Sherman on the math sections of the SAT. The way he tutors is truly unique, as he teaches test mastery and math application in addition to math content. By dissecting the test itself instead of emphasizing math you may already know, he will consistently bring your score up on the math sections. I know he has done it for me. After 8 sessions of one-on-one math tutoring with Sherman Snyder, my daughter better understood problem solving fundamentals and improved her math SAT score by 110 points. Many SAT tutors and prep courses will analyze the types of problems that you get wrong and then move forward from there. The problem with that method is that many kids get different types of problems wrong each time and even with the types of problems they answer correctly, they are likely not completing them in the most effective manner. I work with Sherman on the math portion of the SAT, and he has taught me how to deal with every type of problem with his strategies. I now frequently have 10 minutes to spare on each 25 minute math section. Speed, contrary to popular belief, is not attained only through practice. Working with Sherman has been a greatly enjoyable experience, increased my score substantially, and decreased the time it takes me to complete each section. My son Michael first took a group SAT study program, and his results were very good, but we felt that he could do better. After spending a couple of months working with Ben and Sherman, Michael's Math score rose to a perfect 800, and Michael's Reading score increased 130 points to 790. I wish I had found this service prior to his PSAT testing, my son may have won a National Merit Scholaraship. Michael's SAT 2 scores are also very impressive, scoring well into the 700's for both the Math 2 and Physics tests. He responds to concentrated, challenging, one-on-one instruction. Our daughter was told by her high school math teacher that she was "impossible," and would never learn. That daughter's shattered confidence was restored by a series of sessions with Mr. Snyder. In our otherwise highly-decorated and high-functioning school district (guess which one--hint--it's at the top of your screen)it's sad to say that there are profound and fundamental problems with math curriculum and teaching. Fox Chapel Tutoring helps remedy those problems, and more importantly helps kids learn to ENJOY math. Highly recomended!
