ACT Test Preparation

Test Description

The ACT measures a student's understanding of what has been taught in college prep courses. The ACT consists of four multiple-choice tests - English, Math, Reading, and Science- and an optional Writing Test. Total test time for the four required multiple-choice tests is 2 hours and 55 minutes. The optional Writing test is 30 minutes.

Tutoring Services

Fox Chapel Tutoring offers the following two options for ACT preparation:

Option 1: ACT Preparation Course

Mathematics and Science

English and Reading

Writing

Our twenty-hour preparation course for the ACT includes the following:

Ten hours of focused, one-on-one instruction on mathematics/science
Ten hours of focused, one-on-one instruction on English/reading and writing
An updated course workbook
Instruction provided in your home or any convenient location

It is recommended that lessons begin approximately ten to twelve weeks prior to the exam date. A total of ten weeks will be needed to complete the preparation course. Typically your child will meet weekly with the math tutor (one hour per week) and the critical reading/writing tutor (one hour per week).

Total cost for the ACT course is $1350. If needed, additional lessons can be purchased in one hour increments for $70 per hour.

Option 2: ACT Preparation by the Hour

Tutoring by the hour can be purchased for math/science only, reading/writing only or for any combination of subjects. The cost is $70 per hour with a five hour minimium required.
